Devils Sound

+ ARTIST INFO

Squalor started in 1995 from the remains of 2 other bands. In the beginning they played fast and loud hardcore. They recorded a demo called “Raw Terror Crisis” from which gave them a lot of shows in and around their hometown Den Bosch. The shows were always good, so the number of fans grew fast. The time was right to record a 7-track cd. The reaction on the CD, “Thugs from Holland” was overwhelming. They got an interview in the “Aardschok”, a distribution deal and the way to the big venues was open. They did shows with bands as Troopers, Terrorgrüppe, Bouncing Souls, Kill Your Idols, Mïozan, Right Direction, Cold As Life, Homethrust, Discipline, Tech-9.
People through whole the country saw their quality: An honest and aggressive live-show, always working hard to make a party out of it. On the other hand, there were some pc-kids that didn’t like the band. But by trying to pull them down, they helped the band to increase their popularity even more in the underground hardcore/oi! scene. It was time for the next step.
They got the chance to record 5 songs for the I-Scream sampler “New League of Hardcore”. Again the reaction was good. They were chosen to play at the “European Hardcore Party”, the biggest hardcore show in Holland, together with bands as Dropkick Murphys, Right Direction, Tech-9, Congress and Kickback.
They knew it was now or never, so Squalor went to the Beaufort Studio again to record their first full-length: “Devil Sound”. The album shall be released by Europe’s biggest hardcore label: I Scream records, for who they also recorded a song for the “Respect Your Roots” compilation.
The record was recorded in 4 days, what must be a record. This is because of the fact that the members of Squalor know their songs though and through. The release will be a smash in the face of their enemy’s who underestimate the quality of this band. 16 numbers long you hear a great combination of hardcore, oi! and rock’n’roll that you can’t resist. Squalor is ready for the top and they let you know!!!!
