It is the raw edged gritty sound and driven lyrics that can only come from truly being from the streets of Venice. Beowulf has accomplished a revolutionary sound without betraying true alternative music. The band, formed in an ally garage in the early 80’s by founding members Dale Henderson, Mike Jensen, Michael Alvarado, Paul Yamada, debuted two singles that were released on the compilation album, “Welcome to Venice” and was followed shortly thereafter by their self-titled album on Suicidal Records. The self produced second album, "Lost My Head" (Caroline Records) allowed them to meet producer Dennis 'DC' Herring (Pearl Jam, Timbuk 3, Counting Crows) who produced their 2 next albums, “ Unsentimental” and “Two Cents”. Beowulf tunes have crept into the movies/TV shows such as Tank Girl, Beavis and Butthead and Gilmore Girls. “ Westminster and 5th” is produced by Dennis Mackay who worked with notable artists such as David Bowie, Judas Priest, Jeff Beck and many more.
